Faces at TRIP: Elsie Pastor

Elsie Pastor

Elsie Pastor moved into an apartment with TRIP more than ten years ago.  She quickly became a favored tenant and neighborhood advocate, especially as she is bi-lingual (Spanish).  In August 2004, Elsie began working at TRIP in Rental Management, as a coordinator.  She processed applications, did filing, scheduled appointments and excelled at general clerical work.  In 2009 she was promoted to a Rental Manager here in Troy and in 2010 Elsie took over Site Management of two senior apartment complexes in Albany.  

Elsie is an extremely hard worker and is dedicated to her senior residents who all have considerable needs.  Her background in accounting is also a great asset in running the two apartment sites.  When Elsie isn’t working, you might find her at the movies, spending time with her five grandchildren, sewing or doing crafts.  She is also a very accomplished cook and enjoys managing the grills at block parties. Elsie is a great deal of fun and we miss her daily presence at 415 River Street.  

Elsie’s goal for this year is to bring more on-site services to the senior properties.  We are certain she will be successful!

Dealing with Lead – RRP Training at TRIP

TRIP will is happy to host another Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) training at our office at 415 River Street on Thursday, August 22nd from 8am - 5pm.  Training will be provided by Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County and will include a continental breakfast, lunch, refreshments and course manuals & materials.  Upon successful completion of the course, participants are EPA-certified renovators, enabling them to meet the federal EPA RRP rule that applies to contractors, painters, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, window replacers, roofers, and landlords working in homes or facilities built before 1978.

Call for Nominations: Troy Treasure Award

There are many individuals and groups that are making a significant difference in Troy. The Troy Treasure award, created by TRIP in 2005, is a way to recognize and thank one of them publicly each year. 

We are seeking nominations for the 2013 Troy Treasure awardee. This year's Troy Treasure awardee will be recognized at the TRIP & RCHR Homecoming Dinner on October 28th.

2 Homes for Sale in Troy

The City of Troy will be selling two homes to lucky families this summer!   Located at 3349 6th Avenue and 391 1st Street in Troy, they are two-family homes that have been completely gutted and rebuilt.  Beautiful new open floor plans and energy efficient systems with contemporary finishes make them perfect urban homes.   The new owners must occupy one of the units and may rent out the other unit. 

Household incomes of purchasers may range from a minimum of approximately $33,500 up to 80% of the HUD median income for their household size annually.  Existing debt is also included in determining eligibility. 

Interested buyers should contact TRIP’s HomeOwnership Center to be pre-screened for eligibility to be placed in a lottery pool.   Pre-screening deadline is 12:00 Noon on Friday, June 28, 2013.  The lottery drawing will take place in early July 2013 and the lucky selected families will be notified then.

 

The pre-screening criteria includes the ability to get a qualified mortgage; that the annual household income  is at or below 80% of HUD area median income with a minimum of $33,500; and that the potential homebuyer has enough savings for the downpayment and closing costs needed to close the loan.  The property must be owner occupied and not used as an investment property.
